On Thursday 17th November 2016, we hosted our first ever games evening – Star Wars Games Night. We invited some of the UKs most influential bloggers for a night to remember. Run by professional games company Gambit Games, there were official Star Wars games like the Star Wars: The Card Game and Star Wars Dobble, the latter especially was a massive success and created lots of funny moments where people were trying to think of character names against the clock.
Along with these established Star Wars games, Gambit Games created their own games too – like Star Wars Bang!, players are tasked with either assassinating or defending the Supreme Chancellor all while hiding your identity as either a Separatist, Senate Guard, or Sith. Use strategy and cunning to expose and take out your opponents before they get to you or the Chancellor! It was absolutely gripping and was the busiest table of the night – great job Gambit!
All games went down brilliantly, and were expertly and enthusiastically explained by the games masters. With 9 games on offer there were a lot of choices and most people managed to have a go at all of them. I’m sure quite a few of them will be on their Christmas lists come December. Each gaming table was complemented with a R2-D2 or BB-8 lamp, which was just one of the additions we made to theme the room; we had a fog machine and giant Lightsaber lights, themed cocktails (Jar Jar Drinks and Darth Vodka’s anyone?), Star Wars rugs, and much more – check out our sinister looking entrance below!
WINNERS
The format of the night worked off a poker chip scoring system, chips were given out for participation and winning events, so the more stuck in you got, the more success you’ll have overall. Leonie of Miss Leonie Wilson typified this strategy, getting stuck in from the get go, enjoying long stints on Star Wars Magic! and Star Wars Bang. Her enthusiasm for the night lead to her being the overwhelming victor of the night, taking the coveted 1st place trophy and a bundle of 13 Star Wars gifts worth over £150! Not a bad a haul for a Thursday night down the pub!
2nd place was Kat Kourbeti from Cinescapist who came all the way from Wales to be with us, winning the wooden spoon prize of the Star Wars Lenticular Clock for finishing last in the Pod Racing time trial (Star Wars: Racers Revenge).
In 3rd place was Djosé from Beardy Reviews, check them out for some cool updates and break downs of comics, films, TV shows and more.
All winners won huge prize bundles of Paladone Star Wars goodies, and all guests took home goody bags full of our products too! As well as spot prizes being given out throughout the night for cool Star Wars quotes, challenges and good moves in the games.
