In October 2017 Paladone chose a new charity target – to raise enough money to pay for an entire day’s care at Chestnut Tree House in Sussex. Chestnut Tree House is the children’s hospice for East and West Sussex, Brighton and Hove and South East Hampshire and cares for 300 children and young adults from 0-19 years of age with progressive life-shortening conditions.
Over Christmas three different fundraising activities took place – it was so much fun and the participation from all the staff at Paladone was amazing (thank you all!)
Each year Paladone generates a certain amount of product that cannot be sent out to retailers to be sold on shelf. We do everything possible to ensure that that the products don’t go to waste – either through donating to charity, or selling it to staff and giving the funds to charity.
Our December sample sale saw the largest turnout of staff to-date, cramming in some bargain buys for their Christmas shopping, and raised just over £1000.
Again, using up some unsellable (but in perfectly good condition) samples, along with donations from the staff – we initially looked to donate 20 wrapped shoeboxes full of gifts…. An overwhelming amount of donations meant that on the day we boxed and wrapped over 40 boxes! The staff and children at Chestnut Tree House were blown away.
Finally, throughout the month, we played our traditional, yearly game of ‘find Santa’s Sack’ – a kind of treasure hunt with some lovely prizes for the winners.
Just before breaking up for Christmas we called a close to the activities, handing over, along with the 40+ wrapped presents, an incredible £1,612.00 towards our fundraising target – almost a quarter of the way there, just 2 months in!
So, a big, BIG, thanks to all the staff at Paladone for making it a very good Christmas indeed for the Children at the Chestnut Tree Hospice,
