Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice – Trailer Breakdown

There are few big movies coming out next year; Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, the follow-up to DC and Warner Brothers’ Man of Steel. BvS will be the first time that Batman and Superman meet on the big screen and will serve as a lead-in to the Justice League movie in 2017. With a new teaser and full-length trailer, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice reveals the biggest players in the new movie.
The newest teaser that landed early last week featured another face-off between Superman and Batman, the teaser showed the animosity between the two, and a very angry Superman. In a very un-Superman manner, the Man of Steel appears to have captured Batman (who is rocking a new coat) and has a legion of soldiers who bow towards him. Afterwards, an angry, almost evil-looking Superman takes Batman’s mask off to reveal Bruce Wayne, played by Ben Affleck. The teaser brings up a lot of questions of the relationship between the two superheroes and Superman’s state of mind in the upcoming film.
While the teaser showed some animosity between Superman and Batman, fans were able to get a real look at the new movie with the 3-minute trailer that debuted a few days later on Jimmy Kimmel Live. By having the trailer start off with the heroes’ alter egos, Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne, BvS wants you to know the fundamental differences between the two. While they both fight for justice, it’s clear they have a different idea of what that means.
Not to be outdone by the two superheroes, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor interrupts the two, introducing himself fully to the heroes and the audience. This Lex Luthor will be completely different version than seen before with his goofy, yet comedic entrance into the trailer.
However, don’t be fooled by Lex’s nerdy ways, Lex Luthor is still a powerful villain in the upcoming movie. As part of Lex’s plan to destroy Superman, he brings back Zod (Superman’s adversary in Man of Steel) back to life Frankenstein-style to create a new villain that comic book fans recognized as Doomsday. In the comics, Doomsday is most notable for being the one who killed Superman in Death of Superman. Superman and Batman have a new adversary to watch out for, which appears to indicate a team-up against Doomsday in this film.
While Doomsday has the power to take on The Dark Knight and the Man of Steel, the trailer shows they’ll be getting some help from another superhero, Wonder Woman. In her first appearance on the big screen, Wonder Woman reveals her superpowers and a Captain America-like shield. While Wonder Woman has not spoken yet, it’s clear she will be a prominent figure in BvS as she seen stood beside Batman and Superman in the last moment of the trailer.
Warner Brothers and DC shared a lot of juicy moments in their newest trailers, but fans will have to wait until March 25, 2016 to see entirety of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Will you be watching?
