Warrior Run 2016

On Sunday 2nd October a team of Paladone employees and friends took on the Warrior Run, a local 7K obstacle course race.

The course boasts over 50 obstacles including monkey bars, cargo nets, tunnels and 10 foot walls. The organisers also make the most of the natural obstacles provided by the South Downs settings with plenty of hills to climb and even a few streams to wade through.

This is the second year running that Paladone has entered a team and this year the team consisted of Yann our Commercial Director, Alex and James from Marketing and Burton from the Sales Team. Tagging along for the ride was Burton’s wife Jo.

We wanted to set off early this year to avoid any bottle-necking (which we had experienced last year) so chose the first wave which started at 9:30am. Little did we know, this was actually the ‘Elite wave’ and each of us where handed a purple bracelet allowing us to push past other participants as we strived to qualify for ‘regionals’.

At this point most of us promptly ripped off our purple wrist band and started to position ourselves towards the back of the pack as we headed towards the start line. This was with the exception of Yann who needed to be finished by 11:30am to take his daughter to a party and was already waving goodbye to the rest of the team before the race had started.

Yann smashed through the course in about an hour completing all obstacles along the way. The rest of the team took a more considered, strategic approach to the course coming in at the respectable 2 hour mark.

Impressively all of us completed the final obstacle which involved sprinting up a 15 foot, greased up half pipe and pulling yourself on to a platform at the top.

The Warrior Run is just one of many events Paladone take part in each year, encouraging the whole team to stay active, work together and hopefully have a little fun along the way. Next year we hope to tackle the course again with a bigger team and use it as an opportunity to raise money for charity as well.

We lost Yann along the way… we believe he’s currently working his way through a ditch in outer Lewes trying to find one of his shoes.
