The Toy Story film franchise is one that needs no introduction. The three hugely popular and vastly successful films have cemented themselves in popular culture, being some of the most adored films ever made. Created by Pixar Animation Studios, and first hitting cinema screens in 1995, the Toy Story movies have gone on to gross billions of pounds and have spawned an endless stream of spin offs, toys, video games, and other merchandise.
The original Toy Story was not only a massive success, but it was also the first feature length movie released by Pixar, spawning a new era for animated movies that has gone on to capture the entire world. Since Toy Story’s original success, Pixar have released a number of other new franchises including Cars, The Incredibles, Finding Nemo, and many more.
What do your Toys get up to when you’re not around?
In a world where toys come alive when you’re not around, anything can happen! The three Toy Story films follow the antics of cowboy doll Woody, astronaut action figure Buzz Lightyear, and their gang of fellow toys, as they get into all kinds of scrapes. Whether their rescuing each other from the clutches of evil children, greedy toy enthusiasts, or crazed teddy bears, the Toy Story films are always filled with action, adventure, and lots of laughs.
A fantastic cast
The Toy Story films are famous for their innovative animation, wonderful music courtesy of Randy Newman, and their incredible adventurous plots. However, the films also have an impeccable cast including multi-Academy Award Winner Tom Hanks, popular comedic actor Tim Allen, and Emmy Award Winner Joan Cusack.
Monumental critical success
The original Toy Story was so well received that it became the first animated movie ever to be nominated for an Academy Award in the writing category, when it was nominated for Best Original Screenplay. The three films have gone on to win numerous awards with Toy Story 2 picking up the Golden Globe Award for Best Picture – Musical or Comedy, and Toy Story 3 taking home the Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song.
