We’re officially Scary! Or at least that’s how we’re interpreting the excellent news of winning the ‘Horror Product of the Year 2019’ award at the recent Warner Bros UK Partners event held at the Television Centre in West London. The event that took place in London was a great opportunity to catch up with our partners at Warner Bros, our fellow licensees, and to celebrate a job well done in 2019. Little did we know that the team at WBCP had chosen our range of Horror products, featuring characters and iconography from iconic horror movies IT, Gremlins and Beetlejuice.

Alongside winning this award by having the scariest, coolest and ‘most wanted’ horror gifts, we were also shortlisted for the Classic Animation Product award for our Looney Toons range built specifically for fashion retailers, and the Licensee of the Year award that we previously won in both 2016 and 2018.

As this award is really about excellent product development and design, we spoke to the two key designers of the range, Matt & James from our NPD department;

James said “It means a lot to win for all the designers and developers who worked on the products! We have a great team of talented designers who are big fans of all things horror, so it’s an important and exciting new range for a lot of us, chuffed to have won the award. We’re continuing to add new licenses to the range (some timeless classics and some new up and coming horror properties) as the trend continues to grow and demand increases, which will help keep the range fresh and exciting, which in itself is very exciting.”

And from Matt, “Bringing on the horror ranges brought the opportunity to apply artwork to products in an entirely different way, where we can tell a story or have the user interact with the spooky designs/ characters. We’re always jumping for the opportunity to innovate and work differently at Paladone and these fantastic films offer a great opportunity to get creative – it’s not often that we develop products that aim to scare!”

Here’s the beautiful award;

This award finishes off a bumper year for Paladone, having already been listed in the International Track 200 in May, then just last week winning the Sussex Large Business of the Year award.
