Thursday 27th July 2017 marked the second edition of #PaladoneGamesNight this time with a Disney Pub Quiz! The event was held in Manchester at a quirky bar called The Zombie Shack, hidden atop a bamboo staircase adorned with totems and tiki torches. Unfortunately, a bar that describes itself as “hidden” causes some issues for us trying to give directions so we thought a 5m high Paladone flag might do the trick!

As people arrived they were given an elaborate Disney themed welcome cocktail, in true Zombie Shack spirit, called ‘Ding Dong Dory is Dead’ – a mixture of sloe vodka, port, and blue curaçao (and some mixers too!). We also had a hot buffet prepared with nothing but veggie treats – our compliments to the chef!

Once everyone had arrived everyone they sorted themselves into teams, have your say on who had the best name:

The quiz was run by Mark from Quiz Actually, a Brighton based quiz company who do amazing interactive quizzes, and made us a brilliant bespoke Disney themed quiz. Each round had a unique element, such as:

  • Music round – A mixture of name that song/film from the music, and also name that song from a silent clip of it’s feature in the movie.
  • Screen Test: The Observation Round – There was a clip from Who Killed Roger Rabbit, and teams had to remember as much about it as possible ahead of infuriatingly detailed questions were asked after the clip
  • It begins with ‘Walt Disney’ – The first letter of each answer spells out Walt Disney.

There was also a solo round where teams were torn apart and everyone was in it for themselves. For this round we brought back an old classic – The Generation Game! 17 Paladone Disney products passed along the conveyor belt on the screen and whomever remembered the most won all the loot!

A staple for all Quiz Actually quizzes is for 2nd to last to win a prize, because anyone can finish last but it takes real skill to finish second to last!

It was a close contest from start to finish, with all teams showing a plethora of Disney knowledge. However there was a clear winner in the end..

Team Name Score
#1 The Quizzy Princesses (& King) 103

The night carried on into the early hours as our guests wandered off one by one struggling to carry their hauls.
