The opportunity:
We are looking for a talented and driven Product Technologist to join our Compliance Team. The purpose of this role is to manage the safety and legislative aspects of product development ensuring products meet safety, quality and integrity standards and conformities as dictated by EU and international directives / laws / regulations for Paladone & WeCool products.
The role will report to our Technical Manager
What are key duties of the role?
- Liaising with NPD at the concept stage of the product development cycle to estimate testing requirements and potential costs, advising as to whether a product could be commercially developed
- Recognize the testing required and advise the NPD team what adjustments could be made in order to reduce our testing costs
- Arrange test samples for technologist approval.
- Reviewing packaging mock ups and liaise with creative team to advise on packaging requirements, symbols and essential legislative requirements accordingly
- Provide instruction to the FE labs on specific tests to be carried out and obtain quotes
- Liaise with suppliers and discuss what testing requirements are to be carried out, communicating with NPD on costs and progress of testing
- Ensuring all products are tested to the approved requirements
- Post product compliance – ensuring texting expiry dates on existing products are pro-actively managed, and renewed within time and all relevant departments are kept informed
- Respond to any customer enquiries relating to product compliance
- Reviewing complaints regarding quality / safety issues and applying corrective action where applicable
- Be the primary contact person for dealing with issues regarding trading standards & dept of weights& measures
What we need you to bring to the team:
- Knowledge and understating of EU directives/ Laws/ regulations applicable in testing Paladone products including but not limited to: EN71, EMC, RoHS , REACH
- Knowledge of environmental legislation regarding batteries, WEEE and wood regulations
- Knowledge of symbols/ legislative requirements in relation to packaging and instruction templates
- Ability to read and interpret test reports and completion of customer declarations
- Communication skills at all levels both verbally and written
- Knowledge of manufacturing process
- Social / ethical compliance knowledge
