Earlier in December, Paladone’s UK office hosted its annual staff sample sale to raise money for charity. We donated every pound and penny spent at the sale to The Clock Tower Sanctuary. Our sample sales include products that have been discontinued, never made it to shop shelves, and ones that our development team use as reference samples.
The Clock Tower Sanctuary supports anyone aged 16-25 who is homeless or insecurely housed in Brighton. They offer a day centre for young adults to receive support, have hot showers, eat healthy meals and apply for jobs. It costs £500,000 a year to run the centre, which receives no government or council funding, so every penny counts to ensure that they can continue helping those in need.
We raised a fantastic £1,246 at our sample sale alone! This amount could pay for all the below things:
- 25 young people to have a hot shower, wash their clothes and eat a nutritious meal
- 16 new pairs of shoes for a young person to wear to a job interview
- 12 warm sleeping bags for young people who are having to rough sleep
One of our staff members said, ‘our sample sales are always so much fun, and a great opportunity for Christmas shopping. It’s easy to misremember the breadth of product that we create over the course of the year, and the charity committee do an incredible job of digging out samples from even further back in time, or shaking down the sales team for non-catalogue products that they’ve developed specifically for our larger customers. I always find inspiration at our sample sales and generally come away with armfuls of gifts!’
Overall this year, the Paladone team has donated £5389.58 to The Clock Tower Sanctuary.
